The mandatory components of this portfolio are prescribed, but not its format.

2. TARGET GROUP

•Adults with at least 18 years old.

•Exceptionally, younger adults who lost the status of apprentice or student and have gained relevant work experience.

3. SECTOR

Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities – labour market sector.

In Slovenia a network of NVQs covers technical area, agriculture, forestry, health, social security, transport, catering, tourism, personal services, science, social science, humanities.

4. HOW TO USE

The structure of a NVQ portfolio is defined at national level as described below.

Portfolio is prepared by the candidate, with the support of a trained counselor coming from one of the organisations examining individual NVQ.

Counselors have to complete the necessary training programme provided by the National Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Vocational Education and Training (CPI).

In case the candidate is able to prove through the portfolio that he/she met the requirements/conditions, he/she gains the certificate (without the practical assessment). If portfolio does not meet the requirements, the candidate is assessed within a practical assessment. A committee of 3 persons, then, decides if the candidate gets the certificate and a NVQ certificate is issued by the provider of NVQ.
