NAME OF THE PRACTICE: Accreditation of Vocational Training & Certification of Vocational Training Institute (IEK) Graduates
1. AIM
The certification of the Vocational Training Institutes (IEK) graduates, is a good practice of certifying qualifications in Non Formal Education in Greece. The certification of the graduates of Vocational Training Institutes (IEK) (Non-Formal Post-Upper Secondary Education), embed a national accreditation exam procedure, conducted at national level and based on the vocational training exam regulation framework per professional sector. EOPPEP is responsible for the certification exams of students having completed training at Initial Vocational Training Institutions (SEKLevel 3 and IEK-Level 5) EOPPEP organizes at national level the certification examinations for IEK graduates of all specialties. Upon successful examination results, the graduates are awarded with the Vocational Training Diploma recognised both in Greece and in EU member states (for lower secondary education graduates) or the Certificate Level I (for upper secondary education graduates). The certification of Vocational Training aims at certifying the knowledge and skills of people who are or want to enter to the labor market. |

5. HOW TO USE
Graduates of Vocational Training Institutes (IEK), in order to participate to the certification procedure, needs to: § Register in the Candidates’ Register List for Certification Examinations. § Through the webpage http://pistop.eoppep.gr/eop_f0054.php , each candidate completes the form with his/her personal details. § Candidates must pay an administrative fee, in order to be able to participate to the Theoretical and Practical Part of the certification procedure. § Each candidate creates a Username and Password and finalizes the submission of his/her participation to the certification exams § Candidates must send by post the required supporting documents to EOPPEP. EOPPEP has developed Certification Regulations Guides, where individuals can find information on the type of examinations and the relevant process, a description of the job profile and the task analysis that describes the knowledge The certification procedure is divided into Theoretical and Practical Part. § During the Examination of the Theoretical Part, candidates are assessed to the theoretical knowledge they have in their profession (specialty). Candidates are asked to answer a number of questions, which refers to the theoretical part of their professional sector, in two and a half hours. § During the Practical Part, the professional skills and competences of the candidates are being evaluated. The practical part aims at assessing the individual’s professional skills and competences as described in the preagreed job profiles. This part of the examination takes place in the IEK laboratories or in laboratories or work places where the applicants conducted their practical training/ work placement during their studies; or at laboratories of other education institutions that the relevant Prefectural Committee for Vocational Training (Perifereiaki Epitropi Epaggelmatikis Ekpedefsis kai Katartisis-PEEK) has approved. The examiners are present during the practical exam and evaluate in situ the individual’s performance. The duration of the examinations for the Practical part ranges between two (2) to five (5) hours, depending on the requirements of the professional sector. Vocational Qualification Certification is being given to the candidates who achieve both the Theoretical and Practical part. The holder of a Diploma is not allowed to participate again in the Vocational Qualification Examination of the same professional sector. The participants who failed, have the opportunitiy to re-participate in the Initial Vocational Qualification Examinations without restriction, whenever they are conducted. If a participant achieve success only in Theoretical or Practical part of the examination, he/she can try to pass only the one that he/she failed. |
